Brief Timeline
1950s
Luigi Grollo starts his own business, with a small team of men and one truck,
working on footpaths and building superstructures.
1960s
Luigi's sons, Bruno and Rino, begin working in
the business (Bruno in the 1950s and Rino in
the 1960s), gradually taking over responsibility and control. Swimming pools, shops and
superstructures are the foundation of the business.
1970s
The business moves on to shopping centre complexes and commercial buildings in the 1970s.
It is during this period that the business relocates key personnel to Darwin for two years to build 400 cyclone-proof houses.
1980s
The Grollos combine construction, property development and ownership, most notably with Melbourne's Rialto Towers.
Workforce grows to more than 1,000. The company makes inroads into Sydney. Grocon formed as the construction and development arm of the Group.
1990s
Despite the recession, Grocon shifts its focus back to construction and wins more major projects, including the
Hyatt hotels and Crown Casino in Melbourne and the Westin Hotel and No 1 Martin Place in Sydney. Equiset is established,
headed by Rino's son Lorenz.
2000+
Bruno and Rino divide Grocon to pursue their own goals. Rino takes control of Grollo Australia and the Grollo
share in the Rialto. Lorenz established Equiset as a property development and construction business.
